Westerton Cares

This year our children, parents and staff fully supported the wonderful work of the NSPCC again.  Following the tremendous success of the 'Spellathon' last year, they were even more committed this year to beating their previous total and the 'Multiples Marathon' raised a staggering £4428.77!  The NSPCC remains a charity very close to our hearts, supporting children in sometimes deceptively difficult and disadvantaged circumstances.  The insight into the behaviours, which such circumstances can lead  children to exhibit, has been very valuable in developing understanding, avoiding prejudice and cultivating a wish to support them.  This letter from the NSPCC confirms that support continues to be very much appreciated.

On the 4th September, we had a visitor from the NSPCC.  Mrs Gwen Shackleton spoke to all the children in assembly to ask for our help on behalf of children who were unhappy and experiencing cruelty in their lives.  The children of Westerton Primary School wanted to help and so the whole school engaged in a sponsored ‘spellathon.’  By the time Gwen returned on the 25th September, we had raised a total of £3072.02  and the money was still coming in!  This is a huge achievement and the NSPCC is very grateful to all our children, staff and wonderfully supportive parents.

We are very proud to show that Westerton is so caring!
